Does Mayo endorse specific neuropathy supplements or cures?

Posted by dinee @dinee, Feb 4 9:42am

I have just seen an ad that says Mayo Clinic endorses it product. It is called Nerve Freedom. Does Mayo indeed back that product??

Has anyone used Nerve Freedom made with capsaicin?

Just another advertised neuropathy miracle "cure" pill. Others have mentioned it if you want to read what they have to say - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/?search=nerve+freedom.

I did some investigating on this and posted my findings a few weeks ago, but I can't find them now. This question has been asked and answered multiple times. If anyone states that their blend of supplements will help with something, they are only out to make money, not to help you. Reliable and high-quality supplement producers do not state that their product will treat anything. The USDA does not allow structure-function claims on supplements. That doesn't mean some of the ingredients in the blends are not helpful, but the dosage is usually too high or too low, and the quality will not be reliable.

Has anyone had any success with glutamine. My Dr suggested it for my neuropathy brought on by chemo. I’ve been off chemo for 4 years and have taken ALA and multi- B vitamins. I just have loss of balance and numbness which seems to be getting worse.

I've seen enough neurologists and neurosurgeons in the past decade to know that there is NO cure for neuropathy, or the pain and numbness associated with it.
I know better than to believe in any of these miracle products.

Same here. However I must admit that every time I see one of these advertises I can't help myself from the hope swelling inside of me. 😒 Even though I know it's not true. It's truly evil how these companies prey on people with neuropathy and other chronic diseases. I've spent untold dollars on some of these scam products for neuropathy, arthritis and chronic pain. None of them worked. So take it from me, keep your money in your pocket and pray for a scientific breakthrough instead.

I recently saw the beginnings of an ad for something that's supposed to be better than taking gabapentin for the neuropathic pain that we have to deal with. They began by saying that taking gabapentin for a long period of time will lead to you possibly losing your hands or your feet, and that the source of all neuropathy was a vitamin B-12 deficiency.
Right, as soon as I heard those words, I muted it. It's all BS.

I've had PN for 24 years and tried so many so called cures. The only thing that seems to work temporarily for me is to try and think of other things. This works a lot of times but there are some days when nothing helps. Massage and acupuncture helps sometimes but it's only a temporary fix. Sometimes my other pains ( lower back) outweighs it then I use tylenol and my massager. This is caused by diabetes. I wish all of you could get over this and if a miracle comes along let us all know.
