@jaak @sondrachristo1 kidney stones crossed my mind, too! Would a CT scan or MRI of the kidneys show them up? I wonder too, if interstitial cystitis could be the cause …?

Yes, an MRI, CT or a KUB will detect stones. I too have had blend my urine for many years at least since 2010. I’m 69.. I get kidney stones periodically but I don’t have them right now and I get pains into the tract where I urinate tge pain is off and on. May 13 the urologist is going to do cystoscopy on me.
I’m not looking forward to that, but I’ve gotta do it. The only medication I take is Synthroid. I’ve been taking it since 2005. I do everything in my power to keep kidney stones away, and I don’t think I have any cause I’ve had an MRI and a CT scan in the last couple years showing nothing.
