@tspitzley63, I added your question to the bladder cancer forum too in case others have had this issue with bladder cancer as the primary cancer rather than mets. I can imagine that this is very painful.

I think you mentioned that you might wish to get a second opinion at Mayo Clinic. If this is an option for you, here's how to get started: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

Did your doctor, in the meantime, explain how a nephrostomy might help? Might it be a way to avoid the pain of passing the stones?

The stones aren't as painful passing as the irritation from them causing burning pain and some pain before they pass. Yes the doctor said a nephrostomy may help with the urine but not sure the stones won't still try to pass as some urine might still flow there. I'm just worried that then I'll have to things to deal with and worry about taking care of as I'm alone in this. My scan shows a pile of stones/tumor calcification or whatever they are. It just seems there should be better options to eliminate the stones. But I'm now considering the nephrostomy to see if it helps. It just something else to care for and to possibly get infected, and limit what I can do. But I'm not sure what else I can do. Thank you for replying.
