I will be 83 next month. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in one kidney two years ago next month. Urologist said kidney had to be removed, but because of my age I opted out of surgery. Urologist referred me to oncologist who put me on Keytruda, even though the cancer had not spread. I have been on Keytruda for one year and current MRI showed no spread of cancer and slight reduction in size of tumor. So far, side effect has been severe skin rash. I am scheduled for 18 infusions of Keytruda and have 5 more to go presuming that no bad side effects come up. So, for me immunotherapy has allowed me to continue a normal life up until now.

This is so helpful. Thank you for sharing. I wish you the best going forward. I wonder if I should suggest this to his kidney surgeon or try to find a nephrologist.

Sorry, just also wondering what the size of the tumor was? Do you have two kidneys?

I have the keytruda skin rash too. Is there any treatment for it or are we stuck with it for the duration? Did they reduce your keytruda dose due to the rash?
