Figure I'd post an update. I didn't drink for a few months and really tried to just be healthier in general and I did feel quite a bit better. The numb feet that briefly developed went away and the symptoms were more tolerable. Of course it was far from completely healed but it was better. Recently I went on vacation and did drink again and there was no difference for a while but I went a little too heavy at the end so now some of the symptoms are more noticeable. Going to go back to not drinking for a while to see what happens. Even if alcohol isn't the cause it sure does exasperate the symptoms after a while. I went down the rabbit hole again of seeing if how much I drank is enough to cause neuropathy and while it's the only possible explanation I have the way it came on and the amount still just doesn't make sense. I've read some studies and even with intentionally overestimating how much I've drank I still didn't come close to the criteria they used as a cutoff for possible alcoholic neuropathy. They all seemed to think it took 7+ drinks daily for many (10+) years, 15kg of pure alcohol per kg of body weight, numbers like that. I was only about halfway to that when overestimating. Still sucks not knowing what causes it but at least giving myself a decent break from alcohol seems to make things improve a little.

I feel exactly the same as you, except I'm trying to eliminate/cut back(?) on dark chocolate (caffeine)....
