I went in and told my primary Doctor that I thought I had pancreatitis and she said oh no you would be in the hospital. I told her I have a high pain tolerance. Thank goodness she listened to me. I had a CT scan the next day. She called me a day later and said the found a spot on your pancreas. Then she schedule me for a endoscope and they confirmed that it was cancer he had to put in a Stent in the bile duct because it was partially closed. Was determined that it was stage 1 pancreas cancer. Went and seen the surgeon that next week. Went and had port put in the following week and then started chemo. I just told my Doctor that I was having all the symptoms related to the pancreas. Thank goodness she listened and I did Thank her alot for listening.

My story is similar only l had no pain but very jaundiced. I too had an endoscope with a stent because a tumor in it’s infancy blocked the bile tube. I couldn’t leave the hospital till the bilirubin level would drop. The following morning the doctor came in and told me that this is a stage 1 cancer, and l have a very high chance of surviving. It came out 30 days later when l had a robotic whipple. The surgeon took 20 lymph nodes which were all normal, no cancer. I did capecitabine chemo which gave me neuropathy and l had to stop and then start again. Then the bile tube that the surgeon build from other tissue started to close, so l had to have biliary tubes inserted in my liver for 6.5 months. I had to go every 2 weeks to have the tubes removed and new bigger tubes put in. The surgeon took me off the creon and l do feel good. I am close to 3 years now. I am finding out how different we all are affected and how our recovery is also very different.
