I’ve had 3 back surgeries, first one in 1986 at the age of 30. In addition I’ve had every type injection available. I did ablations for 2 years with minimal relief. Doctors finally offered a spinal stimulator. They put a temporary one in first. If it provides at least fifty percent relief they’ll do surgery to put a permanent spinal stimulator in.
At minimum it is giving me 80% reduction in pain.

It’s very expensive so insurance companies won’t pay unless you’ve gone through most everything as I did.
There was moderate post surgery pain. Physical activities at minimum for two weeks and it’s off to the races. This is life changing for someone that’s had chronic pain for over 40 years. Also, physical therapy is an absolute must. I’ve been a PT maniac since 2015 my last major back surgery. A strong core is a must.
Since my knees are both arthritic with torn meniscus, left hip is arthritic, right hip was repaired, both shoulders arthritic with a three quarter torn rotator cuff on the right, half torn on left.
So I do PT for my whole body 5 days a week, yoga, one day a week. It’s important that PT is done a minimum of 3 days a week or you’re wasting your time.
As far as pain relief goes, I take the safe limit of 2400mg ibuprofen, and 2600 mg of Arthritis Tylenol
At night in order to get some sleep I take a 30 mg capsule of Indica medical marijuana which takes over an hour to really kick in, so I take a Indica gummy that takes about 20-30 minutes to kick in, and I finish with “plunger” of Indica tincture, which kicks in about 10 minutes. Good sleep, no side effects in the morning compared with pharmaceuticals. And not dangerous like them. Years ago I was taking a Dilaudid, Xanax and Ambien for sleep. As soon as medical marijuana became legal here I turned to it. It took me a long time to experiment with my own personal dosage and how I prefer to injest it. Don’t get discouraged, keep trying to see what works for you, as it’s not an exact science.
All the pharmaceuticals went in the garbage. Good luck as I know to well it’s a hard road.
