Hello: I am recently enrolled in the Flamingo trial and will be starting the shots next week. The shots are administered on the thigh (so not on the port) with two needles that form a small 'bleb' under the skin, with the vaccine then 'mixed' under the skin. I have heard that reported side effects are possible mild fatigue and headache and some redness at the side. Shots are once a month for six months, and then more intermittently over three years.

I had two lengthy consulting visits with my oncologist and the PA at my clinic who is coordinating patients in the study, who both provided thorough information about qualifications, what the shots entail, length of time in the trial, how costs are paid for blood work and other tests, tests required before you begin, etc. The consent form also includes a lot of information.

This link has good information:

All best wishes to you! Patty

@pattynau hola!
Me ayudaría conocer tu experiencia. Gracias!

Hi! I'm writing from Spain. I'd like to know how your trial went. I'm finishing Herceptin and my oncologist has offered me the chance to participate. On the one hand, I'd like to contribute to science, but I'm afraid of the side effects. I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!
