Anyone had a knee replacement while on ADT?

When I had my knee replaced six years ago, they also had me take antibiotics every time I went to the dentist.

After I had my hip replaced in September 2023, 4 years later, my orthopedist said that I didn’t need to take antibiotics. They actually didn’t find them useful anymore. Had my knee done in March 24, and same thing with antibiotics.

Good to know...thanks...less meds, the better

That’s been a raging controversy for years - so much confusion and so much wasted energy. They even stopped antibiotic pre-med for mitral valve prolapse - again, the theory being that bacteria from the mouth released during a cleaning will travel and colonize a “rough” or scarred arterial wall or prosthetic joint.
However, it is still given for aortic valve replacement - or at least it was when I retired 3 yrs ago🤔
