Finished November 2023 all 12 injection. Minor irritation and tiredness for a day and occasional headache. Honestly no problems at all!! DXA 13.8% gain in BMD in spine (-3.1 to -2.5) and total femur 5.4% increase in BMD (-3.0 to -2.7) and femoral neck increase BMD of 8.1% (-3.3 to -3.0). and no fractures!!
Still working on it and reluctantly taking alendronate weekly by mouth with so far just 2 episodes of GERD resolved
with minor use of antacids. I do feel lucky i’ve tolerated these drugs and know everyone is very different but this has been my experience. Best to you!!
Congratulations on your improvements! As someone who has just begun this journey (3 doses in) I am praying for a similar outcome. I noticed your post was back in Dec 2023. What drug did they put you on to sustain your results? Curious if you have had a scan at the end of 2024 and if you were able to maintain your numbers. Thanks so much!

Oops, I just re-read your post. So fosomax or the like was prescribed after you wrapped up evenity treatment. How did it go and did it help you to maintain the bone growth you experienced?

Wow, that is fabulous news! I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact I have severe osteoporosis (-3.1 in my spine, -2.6 total hip) as I am only 53 and historically have led a very active lifestyle including yoga, Pilates, tennis, skiing... Unfortunately for me, the combination of genetics coupled with being on thyroid meds for over a decade (and a recent bout of hyperthyroidism that I had previously chalked up to menopause) got me to where I am today and I struggle with what I should and shouldn't do anymore. So grateful for your feedback and that of this forum, it gives me hope.
I was lucky and had no problem with evenity or alendronate. I also was blindsided by my diagnosis when I was 66. I too have been active my entire adulthood I’ve taught aerobics and even keep at it, hiked extensively, walked and ran but I do believe menopause and maternal history left me i. a sharp decline. I would
like to add HRT or bHRT but both my docs say no and one is an integrative Endocrinologist. My husband is also a recently retired PCP and he’s not in favor as my numbers have certainly improved. I tried some testosterone cream alone but don’t think it did anything except I believe some weight gain. I do a lot of exercise with squats and about 12# in each shouldn’t try to build up hip and stomp around the basement a few times per week. I don’t know how much longer I need to take alendronate. One doc said total of 5 years and then a holiday. I only knew I did not want to take Prolia to lock in. Best to you in your journey and yes I’ve learned so much from the gracious sharing from everyone.
I have had 7 injections of Evenity and during this time period had a total hip replacement. No problems.
Yes! My vision changed radically after the injections. And my eyes are also very red.
