When I got down to 1.5 (tapering at 0.5 per month at that point), my doc gave me the OK for occasional use of a low-dose ibuprofen 125 - tylenol 250 combo (half the standard dosages of both) that is readily available OTC. I found that very helpful. One pill was always enough on those days when the train seemed to be in reverse. It allowed me to never consider increasing the prednisone dose, and to stay on the taper schedule. Now at zero for weeks with no issues worth mentioning, and no need for any meds.
Ask your doc if that would be ok.
