My smartest friend wrote this about standards of care for bronchiectasis. A query for the standard of care for bronchiectasis and NTM is also worthwhile.

@scoop I think the list is helpful, however under the vaccination subheading perhaps adding Covid and RSV vaccines would be another suggestion.
Thanks for posting. Looking forward to the Bronchiectasis guidelines Standard of Care being published.
It would be helpful if the various Lung Associations could help get it in the hands of all family physicians.

@scoop thanks for this, it reflects the general discussions on BE by the experts and is a valuable check list for patients. In the context of BE, I am hoping that the Standards of Care will address things like the initial workup and sputum testing/monitoring. These areas are where local doctors seem to fall way short (in addition to airway clearance). I don't know if its because they don't know what steps to take or they ignore the steps. Hard to say. I do know that my pulmonologist doesn't seem to see any value in regular sputum testing outside of an exacerbation, which runs counter to the opinion of every BE expert I have heard speak on the issue (who recommend at least annually if no exacerbations). If I push for it, I can get it, but I have to learn it to know to push for it (as was the case for airway clearance). I think if the BE (and NTM) experts developed Standards of Care for doctors if would inform those doctors who don't know what steps to take and help patients to get the care they need with those doctors who are just ignoring best practices. That is my hope anyway.
