Each of my hip replacement surgeries recoveries were very different. However, once time went by, they became the same. At five months exactly on both I was stiff but moving; at one year they both were in the rearview mirror. One was a very severe recovery for the first three months the other one was very severe for just a month and a half as my surgeon knew my body better in the second surgery. I have met people who are mobile after the first two weeks, which makes me feel like such a loser, L O L! It’s really different with everyone - make sure you’re in physical therapy so somebody’s keeping an eye on you and make sure You follow up with your post recovery surgeon visits informing them of your complaints.

Thanks Lorie. Sounds like you're feeling good, and that's all that counts.

But something you said is so true - every surgery is different, even it's the opposite joint on the same replacement. So if you had a "meh" experience with a hip or knee or shoulder, that doesn't mean it will repeat.

It's best, I think, to not have too many expectations going into surgery, and to work hard, hard, hard on pre-op and post-op exercises, and maintain an exercise regimen post-op, whatever it is.
