I wanted to check in specifically on the pureH2O 3-stage ultra filtration system/model H2O- DWUF300. I looked into the product as I am researching systems generally. I looked at the instructions for the unit (on the manufacture's website) and there is a specific warning NOT to use with microbiologically uncertain water, unless the water is first disinfected. I called the company and was told that the filter is not certified to remove bacteria; testing is expensive and they don't test all things. The performance sheet is included in the instructions pdf. The filter is represented as .1 micrometer, which should be sufficient to filter out NTM, and not all products being used in our community have been specifically tested for effectiveness in removing NTM (e.g. LARQ UV water bottle) so each of us needs to make their own judgement call in terms of how much risk/uncertainty we are comfortable with. In looking at certified water filters for removal of NTM the replacement period is generally much shorter than this unit (which is stated as 12 months, which is what made it so attractive to me). That may (or may not) have something to do with testing/certification. I just wanted to make sure others here are aware of the product's warning against using with microbiologically uncertain water and the lack of certification for removal of NTM.
So kind of you to reply in such detail, Liliana. I really appreciate it! All the best to you on this journey—so good to know we are in it together.
