Evenity injection site pain

Last week I had my 3rd Evenity injections. The MA told me with the first ones that they don’t cause sore arms because they’re given subcutaneous instead of IM. I had them in the morning, by evening my arms were very painful and that lasted into the next day. When I called the rheumatology office for advice I was told this never happens. Right. Same experience the second shots, though slightly less pain. Last week I had a different MA give the injections and mentioned the arm pain, she said that shouldn’t happen. Very minimal pain that time until late afternoon, then I was strapping ice packs to my arms.
Has anyone else had injection site pain?

I think I am five months into my monthly injections of Evenity. The first time I had stomach shots with no problems. I get a different stomach shot weekly during infusions at my cancer clinic (and had previously had Xgeva and also Prolia stomach shots for several years). The second time I got a Evenity shots they did them in the backs of my arms. That night I reached for something and realized I had a golf ball sized lump behind my right arm and a smaller one behind my left arm. It scared me because I forgot about the shots and after a failed transplant, I don't have an immune system and am open for every other kind of cancer. When I realized it was just the shot causing the lumps I had a good laugh. 😅 I had a shot behind each arm again today and this time I have a huge lump and swelling behind my left arm and a much smaller lump behind my right arm. When she gave me the shots I yelped out loud. That was a first but it really did sting. I mentioned what the RN said at the cancer clinic, that if they give the shots slowly it doesn't hurt much if at all. One shot specifically says to take several minutes to administer the shot. I don't know if that is the case with Evenity or not, but next time I will opt for my stomach with one on each side instead of using my arms. I have never requested using my arms so I am not sure why they seem to like that better ? Has anyone else had a pretty good sized lump ? I think it may just be the speed of the shot not allowing the shot liquid to be absorbed into the tissue. Last time I had the lump experience it took about a week for the lump to go down and disappear.

I think if you have them give your shots in your stomach and not in your arms you will be fine. The side effects listed are definitely scary. Are you just trying Evenity to build bone because of your age or osteoporosis ? I have cancer and first was on Xgeva and then Prolia.

I had my first shots yesterday. Exactly 9 hours later, I had significant pain in both arms. Took a tylenol and went to bed. This morning, there is a hard area about 2 X1 1/2 around each injection site, and the skin is quite warm. Not red though. Not sure if this is an issue that needs medical attention.

I've had 2 sets of Evenity injections so far. The 1st time, they gave them in the flabby part of both arms that hangs down : ) She injected slowly, but it wasn't too bad. BUT, by mid afternoon later both began to feel sore; by dinner both were very sore; and by bedtime, they were both extremely sore. I couldn't even bear them touching the sheets. I ended up sleeping in a recliner with my arms across my chest, so the backs of my arms weren't touching anything. And I have a high pain tolerance (3 babies delivered naturally, no meds). My arms were sore with tender (almost painful) lumps were injected for a week with pain radiating almost to my elbow, esp. on the left. The good news is I felt better each day and I carried out my normal active routine, being careful not to bump my arms the first few days and had no other issues.
I decided to have the 2nd set of Evenity injections in my abdomen. MUCH BETTER!!! Just tender to touch for a couple days, with a bit of a lump under the skin where injected. I was able to sleep as usual in bed.
I definitely plan on having the injections in my abdomen, if they'll give them there from now on.
Update: I had my 3rd set of injections on Sept. 26 in my abdomen, also, and had very minimal discomfort : )!!!

I hope the soreness in your abdomen improves quickly. It seems like a trial and error method of where to have the injections and how each one of our bodies tolerates them.
I'm on Prolia now and have had 2 (6 months apart) in my abdomen with no problem. I didn't want to try my arms since my 1st Evenity injections left my arms so painful for days.

I get huge, golf ball sized, bumps in both arms. They last about a week and are very sore. They told me shouldn’t happen but it does!
