@karen10225 Wow, everyday we hear something new. Mycobacteria paragordonae was a new one to me, so I looked for info, and here is an article from "Emerging Microbes" 3 years ago:

The good news is that it is sensitive to most of the drugs normally used to treat NTM/MAC, and that it is less pathogenic than other unusual strains. I would guess that, as with other unusual strains we seem to be seeing, this has been around for a long time and was just not recognized as unique until they routinely began gene-sequencing various Mycobacteria.

So you can breathe a sigh of relief and wait for the doc to return from vacation.

Thank you Sue. They are doing testing to see what drugs would be effective since I can’t take ethambutol or rifampin. It does seem like there may be safer choices for me. I will see my ID the first week of April and we will discuss possibilities then. I have not treated my simiae with drugs because I have been unwilling to risk the side effects. Now I will really have to decide what choice I want to make!
