What's a safe Wait-Time from date of biopsy to start of RT or RP?
My MO and RO indicated that I can choose between RT or RP. I read that after biopsy, the prostate would have inflammation, making it too close to other organs that may be damaged inadvertently with a too early treatment; better to wait for the inflammation to go away. How long did you wait from biopsy date to treatment date?

I was given this information also by two different R/Os.
For me it was 3 months before I started radiation treatments. However, some of that delay was due to getting a PSMA test that is quite special and had to wait for appt. time.
But I was told I needed to wait until the prostate settled down to start treatment. I was same advice not to do another PSA test after biopsies to allow prostate to settle down. I am not sure you were told but my R/Os also did not want to do a PSA test after radiation treatment for 3 months to allow prostate to calm down.
I am sure the prostate is in total agony after being radiated and probably why they say it may take 2-3 years after to finally reach your bottom base line.
@vircet
I waited 3 months after my biopsy but that was more due to removal vs radiation self research and hospital scheduling, as radiation machines and doctors can get pretty busy.
I was nearly six months from biopsy/"official diagnosis" until I started five rads of SBRT. However, I also had a Decipher test to help determine whether my PCa was aggressive or not. It was considered lower-intermediate risk so time was a luxury of sorts. I also started a six month course of Eligard in that timeframe, and eventually had markers and SpaceOar implanted a month before the "big show" started.
It is recommended to wait 4 to 8 weeks before doing the surgery or radiation. Usually the person is put on ADT to prevent the cancer from growing.
I chose EBRT after a second biopsy indicated a higher-risk cancer. For me, it wasn't the time from biopsy to treatment that was relevant. In preparation for radiation, I had fiducial markers embedded in my prostate and a SpaceOAR hydrogel pack injected. They wanted me to wait at least a week after that procedure before doing my EBRT "simulation," to let things settle down. Actual treatments started about three weeks after that. We had started ADT about five weeks prior to the simulation.
I waited 3 months. I remember my surgeon saying they usually prefer to wait at least 6 - 8 weeks for the tissue to heal up some after the biopsy. But in my case scheduling issues turned it into 3 months which I was good with. It gave me a little time to start Kegals, drop 9 lbs, and focus on getting in better physical shape for surgery. I was 70 at the time. I'm not a medical professional so I don't know if any of that prep work really mattered, but I think it helped. Best wishes.
