Hello Everyone. I had a fusion done on Thursday l4/l5. I passed all my tests but was having retention so they sent me home with a catheter. Is it normal for these problems to occur right after surgery?

@jenniferhunter I have an appointment with my surgeon this week and plan to ask him about what activities I can do at this point. I had another set of X-rays done last week for him to review how things are fusing.
I have a yearling colt who I barely halterbroke before surgery and I’ve started handling him a little but I need to be careful because he is young and full of energy and could easily make me jerk or twist my back.
I’m impatiently waiting for everything to heal as I feed my horses every day😊

@donniebrasco9 Hi, I am 3 months post op T10 to L4 fusion and I found it difficult to completely empty my bladder for several weeks after surgery. I read that this can happen after back surgery and I’m happy to say that it has returned to normal for me.
