I use capsaicin .1% cream. It diminishes the pain for 5-8 hours, allowing me walk comfortably. I've also found shoe inserts padded with wool add an extra measure of comfort to my walking.

NEUROPATHY F&M oil..... I have used it for years Sometimes when I wake up during the night with burning feet I'll use it again.. Get it at Walmart or Amazon or other pharmacies.. No prescription needed and it costs around $20 for a small bottle with an eyedropper. You don't have to use it full strength either... I put several drops with a dab of hand cream and rub it on my poor burning red hot feet.. It helps my feet calm down in a few minutes so I can get back to sleep.
Ingredients are Frankincense and Myrrh... yep, like in the bible.. A nurse for diabetes told me about it and demonstrated how fast it worked on my feet one day.. I have been ever thankful...

I tried capsaicin .1% cream on my feet and ankles before I went to bed and the pain was not like it was the night before. However I must add this caveat. The day before I sat a lot and did not do my "dance" routine, nor much walking for the day! Because I am in Minnesota it is still too chilly to walk outside very long, at least for me. So here is what I do while it's too cold to get a good walk in. I have a long list of songs that I like on my laptop. I take my laptop to my workout room and put on certain songs that I like that get me in the mood to dance, or as my wife says, jump up and down! For 20 minutes I move around the room dancing; raising my knees up and down; swinging my arms around; and get a good sweat! Right now the 20 minutes is equal to one mile of walking (according to the program on my cellphone strapped to my arm). I love the music, I enjoy the jumping around, and it's good for my heart and has made a difference on the neuropathic pain in my feet/ankles when I lay down at night!
