Thank you for your help. I am trying to firm up my stool with the same OTC meds. How long does it take to heal from surgery? I am 6 weeks out and it still looks raw. My skin is suffering the most….still looking for an osteomyelitis nurse here.

I don't know what you mean by heal. It took my Stoma about 2 Months to shrink down to proper size. The Stoma should be reddish/pink in color. If your skin looks raw around the Stoma you need to see a Dr, Stoma Nurse, or Wound Care Dr immediately. I can't emphasize this enough. Don't mess around with this.

Are you talking about the surgery incision? I had 4 Laproscopic holes and a 4 inch incision. The incision was glued together and all this was completely healed within about two weeks after leaving the Hospital.
If you are talking about the redness on your skin around your Stoma and are still having problems you need to see a Doctor. Look for a Wound Center at a hospital near you. See a Gastroenterologist or go to the ER but see someone ASAP.
