surgery with 1.4 creatinine level
I need to have shoulder surgery. I have only one kidney and my latest creatinine level is 1.4. I am 73 years old and exercise 4 days a week at the gym. Should I cancel my shoulder surgery due to that creatinine level?

Have you discussed this with your doctor and nephrologist? What have they said to you about the surgery? If you need to have the surgery, but elect to not go forward with it, what will the repercussions be?

I cannot recommend any surgery...as a diabetic....and COPD and 82 yrs. best to diet & exercise & therapy.
You’ve hard the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” ? Sometimes things are broken on our bodies and require fixing (surgery). When that is the case, find a highly experienced and recommended surgeon for the thing that needs surgery. Make sure the surgeon has your health history and is willing to consult with your other providers regarding other co-morbidities you may have.
I do not know anything about creatinine levels and the decision to have surgery based on this type of lab level. However, I have been a physical therapist for 47 years and the advice I give is pretty simple when it comes to orthopedic surgery. 1. You will know when it is time to have surgery, if there are doubts, it seems you are not ready. 2. Find activities to fit your shoulder or get a shoulder to fit your activities. In other words adapt. I have lived with a rotator cuff tear for 30 years. It’s not fun at times, but I just try to adapt.
Blessings.
