Dose Dense Chemo for TNBC

Posted by moshi @moshi, 5 days ago

Hi, I'm starting Dose Dense AC-T Chemo on Monday for my TNBC. I'm looking for any suggestions to consider from others who are either currently on the same regime or have been thru' it.
How long do I keep the ice on my hands and feet? Does it benefit me to ice my head past the idea of losing my hair? I'd prefer not to lose any brain cells.
What foods worked best for you? I'm big into fish, chicken, beans, tofu, nuts, non dairy yogurt, Greens and veggies, Soy milk, Green tea, ginger... healthy foods with minimal outside supplements.
Just looking for advice... I'm a tiny bit nervous... had my port put in today so I guess I'm going to do this.

Hello! I have been on chemo since January 20th for Metaplastic breast carcinoma Triple negative. Every Monday. I use ice mittens, socks and an ice cap on my head 20 minutes before the chemo starts, all during chemo and 60-90 minutes after. I have not lost any hair or had any neuropathy side effects yet. I hope this helps. Chris

Hi! The first Monday of the cycle I am there almost 8 hours because I get pre-meds then two separate chemo drugs individually. On the long day I ice 90 minutes after the chemo is done. The second and third treatment days of the cycle are shorter because I only get one chemo drug those days, About 5 hours and then my ice time after chemo is 60 minutes. I hope this helps @chrisbomstad

Yes.. it does. Drugs before to protect from drugs after. And then we set for chill. Ok. The long chill after surprises me… but I’m ready. Bluetooth headphones for me. Start with 12 weekly taxol… followed by 4 biweekly ac combined. Port still hurts … hoping no neuropath for any of us. We’re cool, chill, and bald…

I had the same regimen. It was fine. I mean, considering. I cold capped so my infusions were slightly longer. I iced my hands and feet for the duration of the 4 taxol treatments. I had the ice pack socks and mittens. I didn’t change my diet too much but food didn’t taste the same to me so I would eat what I felt like having. Definitely stay hydrated. If water tastes weird, use the powder mix ins to flavor it slightly. Popsicles are helpful too. Good luck. It’ll go by fast. 😊

1st treatment down... 11 more to go every week... than the heavy stuff for 2 weeks.. I walked for 45 minutes today... still have my hair. Decided I'm going to paint my head (non toxic) when my hair falls out. Sounds fun.... I'll start a trend...
