Anyone tried using red light therapy?

Posted by domokane @domokane, Jul 29, 2023

There seems to be some evidence that photobiomodulation - heating the skin via infra red light - has some benefits for stimulating nerve re growth. There are lots of devices available on Amazon as well as lots of seemingly expensive treatments provided by chiropractors.

I would be interested to know of any personal experience with such devices and any possible recommendations.

I searched the internet for red light therapy. Is this the medical company that you bought the device from: healthlightlc.com? I have foot neuropathy from lower lumbar spinal surgery. The numbness in my feet has recently gotten worse. Soon I will have to stop driving. Patricia

Most of the over-the-counter Red-Light devices are made in China with no control over quality and other factors. Many times, these devices are gimmicks made for mass distribution and profit. This follows acupuncture and other methods of oriental medicine, not proven to work for the general public. If a Medical Professional has not endorsed or used a device, do not accept that it will work for you.
RE: Lumbar Surgery: This is a very sensitive area of the body. Most of the weight displacement when lifting heavy objects fall on the Pelvis and Lumbar area, especially the lower vertebra.
Compression of the soft-boney discs flattens these cushions causing nerve distress. Light therapy has NOT been known to help regenerate bone or nerve tissue. Some assume it has a benefit, but there are no long term-controlled studies to date indicating Red Light therapy is effective. A healthy lifestyle and good nutrition are beneficial, but many other modalities until proven, are useless.

I looked at Platinumtherapy Lights site, but did not find a device to use with feet. Did you send the company a message for information on devices that could be used on feet?

My research was limited to peer-reviewed publications on studies of RLT for long-covid related symptoms. I don't recall seeing anything on feet, but wasn't looking for them specifically.
