Do you feel the implant

Posted by marbe @marbe, Mar 4 11:01am

I had right anterior hip replacement about 4 months ago. I was at the point where I walked/hiked, all fine as long as I was careful and slow. Doing PT faithfully.

Then I moved a lot of stuff, bending, carrying, lifting for a few days. Now I feel the implant itself. It doesn't seem to be changing? I notice seem to have gone backwards a bit in recovery.

I do not feel the implant per se, but I do feel the muscles around it. Suggest you get an X-ray and see what your surgeon has to say. Don’t wait.

Perhaps a follow up. You might of loosened the components, it take a little better than a year for them to heal!

I can only address a TKR and to answer your question, YES! From the beginning, seven years ago, I could hear and feel what felt like something was not right. I had an revision done 15 months ago to correct this problem but it did absolutely nothing but give me another long recovery with pain and expenses, and ofcourse hearing the ole "the x-rays look good."
