Hi, @lucifer179 - tagging a few members to see if anyone may have had a ventral mesh rectopexy and how it went @researchmaven @kilh @terrirussell @tabithatwitch @baz @peanutbutterhair. @guener also may have some thoughts for you.
lucifer179 - have you decided on whether you'd like to have this surgery?
I had this surgery last year at 81 years old. Very little to no pain afterwards. Only a short recuperation--2 weeks tops. However, I was hoping it would help my constipation but it has not. I did biofeedback for the third time in 6 years for 8 weeks each time. I had little to no success long term. I am THAT difficult patient. I am now looking for a better place to be diagnosed than our local hospitals so if anyone has had good doctors or clinic experience please let me know where I might start my search.
Hello Moderator,
I have not had any surgery. So long as my IBS-C doesn't act up and my stool moves easily, my rectocle is not an issue.
I just want to echo that any rectocle surgery should be done by a top doctor. I rely on Castle and Connolly but have no idea if places like Mayo or Cleveland Clinic get referred to this "you can't buy your way in" rating service.
Jump through hoops to get the best surgeon, is what I would do.
Regarding madisongirl, it is very interesting to hear that the surgery did not help your constipation. There are so many ways to tackle constipation. Many I mentioned in earlier posts and others too.
It depends on what grade your prolapse is. I highly recommend you see a physio that specializes in prolapse and ask if it would help.
My prolapse is full on as bad as it gets and getting worse. I’m going to do more research.
I am 70 year female with rectal prolapse. I would be interested in other people's experience with a surgical procedure for this condition. Also I was advised to have biofeedback for pelvic floor dysynergia. Does anyone have experience with this Thanks.
