Has anyone tried Botox for headaches?

Was Botox successful? My doctor wants me to try it again. It did not work 8 years ago. I worry about the toxicity and my glaucoma and macular degeneration. Eye doc says it's okay, but they aren't his eyes.

Botox didn't help at all

Botox was life changing for me. I get shots every 10 weeks. I still get migraines but they are more manageable.

Hi, @sundancerdb78 - how did the actual process of getting onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) shots go for you? I realize you said your outcome for your headaches was not good.

However, for those who may metabolize this treatment differently, I wondered whether you experienced pain with the shots? Did you feel calm or nervous before and during the shots?

A good friend of mine gets the shots, with some success, and my neuro has offered them to me. Its a series of 32 all over the head and upper neck. He says it takes him 15 minutes. no time for any dulling cream. Of course I would feel some anxiety going into this because it hurts! if I choose to do it, I would take .25 mg of xanax. The cost under my plan would be $200. every 10 weeks. I have had my first IMOVIG shot and will do 3 of those before I try anything else.

I had 2 rounds of Botox 8 years ago. It is not pleasant, but bearable. I got no relief from headache. I am hoping this time I will have so me good results, just worried about my eyes. The neuro has agreed to keep them away from my eyes. Good luck to all who try this.

If you try Botox, check with the manufacturer of Botox for a coupon. My neuro is telling me my insurance covers it 100%. When I called my ins co they said I pay 20%. Nobody knows anything anymore.

I had constant headaches going into the treatment! After the treatment they got worse! Meaning just more pain! Fatigue and hypertension i guess how I felt! Took me 10 days to get it out of my system!
Make sense?
Thanks,

Oh dear! I did 2 rounds 8 years ago and nothing happened. Hoping for results this time because I have exhausted every other avenue.

I've been getting Botox (through Kaiser - only $15!!) for 8 months. I do not think it helps, but it doesn't seem to hurt either so I've stuck (no pun intended) with it. Some of the pricks do hurt a bit, but it's quick. I don't think it's that bad or worth getting anxious about.
