I am 77 yrs old started on Prolia 2022. My bone density results I had osteoporosis.
I took my Dr.’s advise and started Prolia. Unfortunately, I did not research the drug and all these side effects and problems that occurred if stopped. I am overwhelmed!!
Thank you!

@ladyjds
Hello, I’m sorry you are going through this. I know it’s very upsetting.
There is plenty of information on this site to help guide you.
Someone else has remarked that there is a discussion on this site called, stopping prolia(I think) that can help you gather information.
What side affects are you dealing with?
I’m speaking from experience when I tell you that you cannot just stop prolia, you must go on a relay drug to prevent rebound fractures. Yearly reclast infusions are best.
You will get a lot of good information here,
Take care

Hello @ladyjds. Osteoporosis medications are powerful medications and many members are reluctant to start them. It is easy to be overwhelmed by conversations of potential side effects and bad experiences. Like any medication, patients have to weigh the pros and cons which can involve the risk of a severe bone break at an age where recovery could be difficult or potential side effects can sometimes seem common, but are a smaller percentage.

I combined your discussion with an existing discussion titled:

"Prolia for osteoporosis"

As @sondrachristo1 suggested, there is a discussion about potentially getting off of Prolia:

"Prolia discontinuation"

When stopping or starting a powerful medication like Prolia, it is best to do so with your provider.
