I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's after cancer in my parotid gland was removed along with all the lymph nodes. The cancer had grown around my facial nerve which was severed so my face is paralyzed on one side. The radiation to my head resulted in damage to my thyroid gland. I was on Levothyroxine for a few years, but it was adjusted every three months when I went in to have the blood work done. Two years ago, they switched me to Armour thyroid (pig fat). I know....that's what I thought lol... but it is actually working. I have not had any problems since. I still have it checked every six months, but it's only been adjusted once and my blood work has leveled out. I am sure it doesn't work on everyone, but it did for me.

Armour is actually made of desiccated pig thyroid. It is a much better drug for those who do not convert well. It did not work for me, so I take my T4 and T3 separately (Tirosint and Cytomel). I am able to adjust as needed. You definitely have to play around with the meds until you find one that works for you. Good to hear you are doing well on it!
