When my husband and I settle down after dinner to watch TV, he inevitably falls asleep or semi-sleep. He begins making gestures and reaching out for something that's obviously invisible and he mumbles and talks about random things that don't make much sense. A lot of his ramblings are conversations or memories of his past or explanations of things, but it's all so disconnected that, try as I might, I can't make sense of what he's saying. Is he having hallucinations or delusions? What's going on here? When he wakes up, he'll have no idea about how much time has passed. The other evening when he woke up, he asked me what I was doing up so early, as if it were morning, not evening. What's happening?
