I think its wonderful that we can share so many different methods of healing here. I understand the sacred use of plant medicine, but are you at all concerned about the hallucinagetic and possible addictive effects of them? Just curious. I've done sweat lodges before, but have never felt comfortable with psychoactive substances, I'm 23 years sober.

Wow, 23 years sober, my hat is off to you. I was an addiction nurse for 6 years. I honor you....
At 68 years old, the only addiction I have is cigarettes. I practiced drinking in my adult life but never learned it. I have an occasional honey shot but nothing more than that.
Truthfully, I see no personal challenges with anyone abusing the peyote at ceremony. It is regulated by the government, and prior to each Ceremony the county prosecuter is notified there will be a ceremony. This makes it legal on a state level but not Federal. We would have to have a federally recognised Indian reservation for it to be legal on a federal level.
The entrance to the land is blocked prior to the start of the ceremony so folks won't go driving under the influence.
I first heard of these ceremonies in 2014. Hippy crap I declared it. This went on month after month, for at least a year.
Then the same folks came in and said exactly the same things as every other month, but this time something opened in me. I was going!
I am so glad I listened because the peyote and the Ayaskaha have helped me to completely finish my healing.
I should say, while I have smoked weed, I never cared to try any other substance cuz I get high on life. I hope this answers your question.
