I had BiPoLep done in Jan 2022 and I am very pleased with the results. My prostate was 125cc with a median lobe covering the bladder outlet and I could not pee. I was on a Foley catheter for about 6 weeks leading up to the surgery. I now sleep through the night about 99% of the time without having to get up to pee and I still pee like a teenager since the surgery. BiPoLep is very similar to HoLEP, just uses a slightly different cutting tool. Both of these surgeries use a hot cutting tool to cauterize as they cut to reduce the bleeding. I am NOT a doctor but I would not call these surgeries "very bloody". You may be thinking of TURP which I believe uses a cold steel cutting tool. I had no stricture after my surgery. My surgeon did list that as a possible side effect of the surgery but said that it was not common. I was 69 years old at the time of the surgery and on Medicare with supplemental and it was completely covered. I paid a small deductible because it was early in the calendar year and I had not yet met the deductible. Both of these surgeries will leave you with retrograde ejaculation which admittedly does slightly reduce the pleasure of an orgasm, but I would do it all over again if I had to. In fact, I would not have waited until I was in urinary retention and on a catheter. Best of luck to you.
