Yes. They are monitoring mine and will decide after my next measurement on next steps. It's 4.8 at the sinus of valsalva (aortic root) , 4.3 at the sinotubular junction, and 4.1 at my ascending aorta. They will consider surgery if mine reaches 5.0 because it may be something that runs in my family. My genetic test came back with none of the markers that they know about. However, I have an uncle, brother and first cousin who died prematurely and expectedly- no autopsies were performed so we don't know the exact cause of death. 2 were heart failures of some type, and my cousin was estranged so all we know is that he died at 61 suddenly and unexpectedly. Everything else about my heart is typical - and I have very good blood pressure. So they feel it's like something that is genetic rather than. because of stresses on my heart.

Thanks for sharing.
We don’t know yet for sure from MAYO at what diameter they would recommend surgery. We just asked for a surgical consult.
I would guess though, since his aortic root aneurysm is 4.9 ( January 2025)and was 4.0 in 2023, that they would discuss surgery at 5.0 due to the fairly quick growth, and the moderate to severe aortic valve regurgitation .

His family history of heart disease is not complete, since his father was adopted….his dad did have a heart attack though.

His blood pressure has been pretty unstable since 2023 after he started treatment for aggressive prostate cancer…just recently has been more stable with two meds.

It will be interesting to hear what Cleveland Clinic recommends for you!

Best of luck!
