Spine Surgery

Posted by danyysienna111 @danyysienna111, 21 hours ago

My husband is scheduled to have cervical surgery next month for bone spurs and herniated disks. he is at collapsing stage 4 and we have tried many alternatives to no avail. I understand it's a very risky surgery and reading posts from others have really frightened me. He loves golf and is very active and I just can't imagine his "golden" years filled with agony and solitude. Not asking for h,elp just please say prayers for Daniel. Thank you.

Prayers for Daniel's successful surgery and rapid recovery. He is going to feel better than he does now.
You might ask the surgeon for a prescription for Forteo. It helps integrated the hardware and speeds recovery. And may help with the pain.

Prayers for you Daniel and trust in the Lord with all your heart , with all your mind and with all your soul. I don't know what kind of cervical surgery you are having but I just wanted to let you know that I had a 4 level cervical fusion in 2009 that was very successful. I was 59 years old at the time of the fusion.

@danyysienna111 Of course there are risks to any surgery, but cervical fusion can be done with great outcomes. I am an example of that. I had a one level fusion of C5/C6 with only a bone disc spacer and I stayed in a neck brace for 3 months until fused. It solved all the pain I was having.

What has the surgeon proposed doing for your husband?

My husband had cervical surgery and replace 4 disks with cadaver disks. He had been in such pain it was imperative he have this surgery. It was a miracle. Even though his range was not as great, the pain was gone. Prayers for a speedy recovery

@danyysienna111
I am 55 and had ACDF cervical spine surgery on c5-c6 in 2022 due to bone spurs and disc bulge compressing my spinal cord and nerve roots. It caused daily headaches, neck/shoulder pain, arm/hand weakness, bladder control issues and difficulty walking/balance issues/heaviness in legs. My symptoms improved post surgery and the recovery was not too bad. I had lumbar spine surgery in 2024 and it was much more painful/longer recovery. I am due for ACDF surgery on c6-c7 in 2025 (another herniated disc pressing in spinal cord and causing myelopathy symptoms again).

Prayers for Daniel and you that he is in good hands and surgery is a huge success so he can recover some quality of life. 🙏

Thank you all so much. It is reassuring to know most of your outcomes have been good. I will continue to support him in every way I can. Life is filled with ups and downs and reaching out eased my mind. A positive attitude counts for a lot.
