I worked in a hospital operating room. I have had many patients return for more fusions. For example you fuse levels 3 and 4 you now place added stress on the levels above and below. So maybe a few years later you might need a fusion on levels 2 and 3 or 4 and 5. And so those levels get fused and now you’re stressing the levels above and below those levels. So the cycle repeats. After many years you whole lumbar spine ends up getting fused. It’s not what I want. Each patient is different. So one patient may be back within a year and someone else might return 2-3 years later.
