I wear Hoka running shoes because they have the most cushion. There are different models so you should be fitted at a store. I also wear custom fitted orthotics from a podiatrist. It has a small bump just below the arch. This really helped the pain in the ball of my foot. Hope this info helps you.

Thank you. I tried Hoka, but maybe just not the right ones. When you got you orthotics, were they hard to get used to? I've heard a lot of people say they spent $400-600 and couldn't wear them. So you take the insole out of the Hoka ones to use the orthotics? Do you have to go up a size in shoes to accommodate the insoles or are they only about as thick as store-bought ones? Do you have the same as me....fat pad atrophy and arthritis or do you have metatarsal pain? Sorry for all the questions, and thank you again for responding.
