This document is the scientific holy grail regarding NTM and how to avoid it. It was last updated in 2021. Maybe Dr. Falkinham's successor/colleague Dr. Honda has published some new info but I have not seen anything. From what I've read RO systems do not eliminate NTM, rather it can grow in those systems due to the filters.

Hi @scoop & @lilianna The paper from 2021 is still correct. Even the addition of UV light is not enough - UV must "touch" every part of the system to be effective - and the insides of the tubing and filters don't get touched.
My brother installed and them removed RO after doing further research (he has lung issues.)

thank you scoop, I read the material and well, it looks like the best option is the double in line ystem of two filters: one upstream and then the 2micromete pore size one. I need to find a person who would be able to do it. Thank you again.
