Severe Pain After Every Bowel Movement
I can't take this anymore. It has been almost 2 years and the doctors can't find anything. Whenever I have a bowel movement I am crippled for hours, many hours in pain and completely fatigued. CT Scans show nothing. My small bowel ruptured last year and I had major surgery. 6 months later I had surgery for an obstruction in my bowel. I don't believe they are related as I had the pain after bowel movements prior to the first surgery. I also have Diverticulous BUT not in the colon...my diverticulitis attacks have been in the small bowel. Anyway, I told you all of this just to give you all of the information...does anyone have any experience with stomach pain AFTER bowel movements? I really need help. Cleveland clinic Florida says they don't know what it is. Thank you

Have they done thorough testing?
MALS is another problem that can cause the vomiting. I have problems when I travel vomiting or feeling nauseous.... the system gets backed up.
If he is constipated I think he will feel the nausea or have the vomiting. I have a feeling if you go to the Mayo they will offer him a bag. Can you find any PT therapy with EMG to make sure everything is coordinating for your child to defecate properly? Anal Manometry test? I hope he can speak to tell you when he is suffering?
It came on my email the first message an option to send you a private message. You should have my email now too
My son also has severe pain after bowel movements. He has a long history with diagnoses of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, which he definitely had, and Chron's which I always wonder if that ever was the issue or not. The pain has gotten better for some periods and then returned, most recently after a colonoscopy/endoscopy a week ago, where they "stretched" a Shatzi ring in his esophagus. The terrible pain after bowel movements has come back since then. Has anybody with this problem found any answers? This has been going on since he was a very young child. He has had bowel resections (where they always say they don't see any Chrons) and is on multiple meds for Cyclic Vomiting and Chrons. Any help would be most appreciated.
@les2024 Have you tried Ollie pop it’s a prebiotic? I can drink a can of it for supper and it softens my bowels for the next morning. Have you considered Pelvic therapy I went thru it because of a failed back surgery after she done the internal therapy and realigned my bowels I would do good for a couple days. Having a failed back surgery (a screw loose at L5 I was told to leave it and get a pain stimulator . There’s a nerve there somewhere messing with my bowels because when they put the stimulator in my bowels instantly went back to normal. Then being stupid I bent 4 days later and moved the leads now the bowels are out of wack again and I’m going Tuesday to talk to another Surgeon about fixing my stimulator
The Mayo Clinic advised me against any Stimulaor put in the back and advised me not to try the Botox. (I have seen a coloproctologist here and she had offered up both of these here in Mexico . She also warned of the problems with both, after reading up, I have held off... doesn’t seem to go well. I have had months of PT in 2023. Pelvic floor therapist here do not have the equipment with the EMG. So, I have tried PT here but what I have available here doesn't work.... this is why I sought out the Mayo Clinic for their specific program for two weeks. I was denied without being told why... that was exhausting to go there. I was hoping they would do more nerve conduction tests but didn't...
I left with them knowing I didn't have this particular PT available to me...
If you find a way to private message me, I was going to ask you some other questions. I am very active and have a large dog so I am afraid the Stimulator would be a problem with me staying put and I have also have RSDS/CRPS from injuries a long time ago, so i worry about the surgery and I never did any pain pumps previously either. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I have been awake all night with pressure in my colon...
I don't understand what kind of medicine he is on for crohns if it wasn't detected. My grandson has crohns has been hospitalized 3 times for it. He is on a biologic like Remicade infusion. It's very serious. He goes to a clinic that specializes in GI diseases not just a regular gastro. I'm an older woman diagnosed with IBS-D for over forty years. They have never found anything else except one time when I had C-dif. I have had pain after a bowel movement almost always and I take a 20 mg Bentyl pill and it takes away the pain without making me sleepy.
This sounds nearly identical to me and I’ve never really met anyone with this experience. I’ve had lifelong bowel discomfort and never had easy bowel movements, but around age 23 they became so painful that they started occasionally triggering cyclic vomiting. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis (idiopathic) and IBS. I also have good times and bad times. Sometimes I live a normal life for a week or two, but then go back to having unexplainable painful bowel movements no matter what comes out of me. It feels like my entire digestive system inflames all the way up to my esophagus, which I can feel throbbing. It’s intensely painful and sometimes takes hours to stop being painful. I’ve found nothing to stop it. A hot bath can sometimes help but only sometimes. Otherwise I’m left gasping for air, and breathing literally hurts.
