My mother had very painful peripheral neuropathy in her feet and was on Gabapentin and Tramadol for pain. She suffered anyway even with her treatment. I now have burning, tingling and numbness in my feet, lower legs, arms, and tingling in my face, the tingling and numbness is also in my back. I have increased problems with balance enough that I walk with a cane to avoid falling. I have not had a doctor diagnose peripheral neuropathy as I have not really had the discussion about it with my Primary Care doctor. I think it is the same as what my mother had and my story sounds much like what those people who have already been diagnosed. My question is , since Gabapentin does not seem to help(even for my Mom. Should I request the next level of treatment to start?

You’re probably not taking a high enough dosage of gabapentin. I’m not sure what the bad repercussions are if you take too much. Years ago I took 300 mg twice a day. Now I have to take 800 mg 3 times a day to get any relief.
