Rognal..I am also 80 and I asked my dentist if my mouth looked cancerous? She didn't know..but she did say that if cancer attacks the mouth, it has specific characteristics. Cancer usually starts in only one specific area, i.e., one side of the mouth or another, left cheek or right. Watch the sides of your tongue, under the tongue and inside of lips. I check for these weekly!
My mouth flared up horribly, but the tools I've chosen have really helped. I now have gotten, what I call scabs
on the red sores, showing me I am moving in the right direction. Bottom line be consistent. Salt and warm water is #1 for raw pain.

Thank you for those tips! Its true its more on one
side that the other! I've never experienced any "scabbing".
Clobetasol cream during a flare is a godsend against pain.
