In reply to @intiguyct. No worries. I have had this nasty PN since the late 80's. I just keep trying! A tiny change would be quite welcomed, or should I say, "tiny difference?" No false hope taken! No big expectation.
I responded because, for whatever reason, my pain has increased a little bit lately. If I try something, just a tiny bit of trial and error, it might be worth the try!
It is quite impressive that you want to make sure you did not exceed my expectation with your personal shared results. I have gone down many paths hoping for a Hint of Help, and still do. Best Wishes!
I went to the foot doctor last week and there’s nothing he could do for me. He said I need to see a neurologist and to take vitamin B12. I haven’t seen a neurologist yet, but I’m taking B12 for the last few days. I’ll see what happens.
Thanks for the update. B-12 is good for a bunch of this and that. Good move, I take it but I need to check on the level to see if I am taking enough to make a difference.

I wasted my time seeing a podiatrist like you did, he told me there wasn't anything they could do, and to see a neurologist to possibly determine the cause. After every test there is that's available, no cause could be determined, so I've been diagnosed with idiopathic poly neuropathy. Great.
I took all that stuff... R-ALA...on and on and if anything it seems to make it worse, Now maybe it helped heal who knows but here is what works for me as a NON-Dietbetic:
Better Shoes:
Hokas Clifton 9's or New Balance 1085s or similar comfortable shoes and I mean walking on a cloud comfortable
Stop Sugar...and especially Chocolate artificial sugar seems fine
Stop Alcohol!!!
When I first noticed it.. the pain would be so bad I would have to lay down and grit my teeth letting the pain pass and that was mowing apart of my lawn..........
I could hardly go 1000-1500 steps before I would have to sit down to let the pain go away... and it would take 20 mins or longer to go away enough that I could stand again.
Now, I can go up to around 6,500 steps before I feel anything, and it only takes a couple of minutes to go away. I walk 10,000 steps on most days and sometimes longer.
I guess I'm not saying that all the pills that the YouTube guru's tell you to take didn't help start the mending process but you need to find the root of the cause, and for me, it was sugar/and mainly chocolate, and alcohol
plus better shoes let the feet(yea mine is in my feet) heal and you take your pills and avoiding what your body doesn't like and for me ...Sugar and Alcohol
The best pain reliever for PN that I found that absolutely works well is Scotch On The Rocks. Pain goes away fast, just keep sitting, don’t try walking and for sure don’t drive.
To PN sufferers:
It is started in the right toe and then the left 3 months ago. It is all gone now.
.
Because, in the gym, I started using a machine that enables you to do seated calf raises.
The burning in the calves starts after 30 reps and then I press myself to get to 45 reps. On any day (3 – 4 days/week) I do 4 X 45.
This is solid, empirical evidence.
do vitamins work? Dr. suggested. EB-N3 very expensive. Must be another supplement or something else. I exercise 6 times a week for 40 minutes, just using my legs and feet. Also am trying lidocaine pain relief cream.

And I too have likely done many of the same paths. I know what you are going through and how it feels to be desperate for anything that might help and that’s why I posted. Unfortunately it does cycle between good days and bad days - thus far I’d say I had two months of “good days” but it’s difficult to know for sure which med or procedure produces a change or for how long. Pretty sure however the ALA is helpful for me at least for now. Hope you find the same…Good luck!

Okay..I am a virgin for all of these supplements so please be kind. Just wondering if any doctor advised you to take any of them. No I am not the person who waits for their advice..I am only seeing a neurologist for the first time in early March. After reading a lot of PN posts I am not holding out a lot of hope for diagnosis or what to do about it. Just curious as you all seem to have had your condition longer than me which is only one and half yrs. I also wonder about your sensations. Is it pain or needles and pins. I am on lyrica for something else but I do recognize that it helps me with my restless feet and legs at night. That being said I am still not sleeping well as I have to drink caffeine all day after taking lyrica just to stay awake to try to sleep at night but I am still pretty wired even later at night okay sorry that I don't have anything to add a out supplements. At this point in my PN journey I am a sponge taking it all in thank you to all contributors.

I don't know how old you are, but I'd recommend taking a few specific supplements just for your overall health. Who knows, they may lessen some of your symptoms.
I'd suggest a good multi vitamin, an iron supplement(my doctor has me take mine every other day, he says it's absorbed better this way), a calcium + vitamin D pill, and a B-vitamin complex to start. Krill Oil would be another suggestion.
I get all of them from Costco.
