I had my medtronic pain pump implanted two years ago. It has never given me any pain relief. I've had its output cranked up more times than I can remember. At one point it gave me weird feelings, so I have been having it decreased for a few months with the intention of getting it removed. I just contacted the pain doc who did the trial to see how much he shot into my back to make my pain level drop from an 8 down to a 2. If it was significantly higher than what I was getting from the actual pump output, I may try having the output increased again. The pain pump is supposed to have a success rate of 94%, so why am I hearing of so many patients who have not gotten much pain relief?
Anyway, I certainly hope that you can get better results than I did.

I had my Medtronic implanted a year ago. I too thought at first that I wasn't getting the relief I was expecting. It was then that my doctor reminded me that it was my lousy back that made me decide to go this route. He, of course, was right. My back is great. When I remember the pain I once had, I understood. I was looking for total pain relief once installed, and of course, that wasn't the case. It sometimes helps my fibromyalgia, arthritis, & sciatica I still may have to take a couple Tylenol for break-through. All in all I'm very happy. What was your reason for the pump?
