Oh, yeah. That's how I knew I was experiencing Effexor withdrawal effects. Never had anxiety, or panic attacks except during two instances when I was given other medications I shouldn't have while on Effexor. I did some research and sent my husband out to Vitamin Sh*ppe before it closed to pick up L-tryptophan (500mg); that helped tremendously--within an hour, I was able to calm down and even sleep after a week of insomnia and steadily mounting agitation. I, too, had tapered slowly off Effexor (25mg); I was fine for about 6-6.5 weeks and then, all of the Effexor (18 years' worth) stored in my body fat was gone.

I've been off of effexor for about 2 weeks now and the withdrawals are hitting like a ton of bricks. I was on it for 7 or 8 years. These withdrawals will make a person half sucidal. I don't have plans for killing myself but like I have told some people and a Dr I just want shut off and turn me back on when things are better. The meds they put me on is helping a little. But now the depression part is coming on. Lost ,confused, crying, scared and hot then cold. This is hell. I'm very thankful for everyone's replies and caring words. It differently helps to talk to people that has been through this.
