Yes, mine is a State of GA Advantage Plan PPO. I can get care wherever I want to go even traveling. I do not have to get approval either when I want/need to see a specialist. My Tobi was approved in one day and I had it within 3 days of my Dr. ordering it. I have never been turned down for any meds or services. I guess I am indeed very lucky to have such great medical in retirement. Of course, during my working career, I made sure that I chose jobs according to the medical benefits and retirement, not the salary. I just received a statement from Anthem for the end of January. There are 3 levels of drugs. I am in just one month on level 2 and after they get the bill for Tobi will be on the catastrophic drug level by the end of February. They said that all drugs will be free from here on out until the end of 2025.

As Sue said, you are fortunate with how GA has there Advantage Plan set up.
Most typical Medicare Advantage plans only cover a person for emergency care, ER, while traveling anywhere in the U.S and will not/may not cover for routine health care visits beyond your plan's service area... and then.... outside the U.S. the Medicare/Medicare Advantage coverage is limited.
Another good advantage for you: "no referral needed for specialist, unusual with an Advantage Plan."
Interesting how insurance can be so different, be it private or government.
There you have it...proactive.. as you said and planned: " I chose jobs according to the medical benefits and retirement, not the salary." That is so true what one should, or might have to, consider when seeking employment or changing to another employer. A young man friend of mine learned that lesson the hard way. I had to explain to him what he did after having an unexpected injury with his decision of doing the opposite of what you did.
I guess the Tobi medication gets you out of what is called the "donut hole" with drug costs.
Wishing you the success you are working on with the Tobi medication.
