Prescribed prednisone for pain with suspected autoimmune disorder. Tapering off Prednisone after 6 months on low dose. Process started 7 days ago as directed by physician. Started with pain in lower legs, exacerbated to general body aches as time progresses. Autoimmune ruled out. Body aches are not subsiding. Pain in lower legs remains over bones and in muscles. Is this original pain recurring, Or is it Prednisone withdrawal symptoms

Welcome @rubonimo, Without a specific diagnosis I'm not sure anyone can answer your questions. Hopefully someone with similar experiences can respond. I've had PMR twice and the first time it took me 3 and half years to taper off of prednisone. There are quite a few conditions that mimic PMR - https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/diseases-that-mimic-polymyalgia-rheumatica.

Do your doctors suspect PMR? Did your starting dose of prednisone get rid of most or all of the pain within a few hours of taking the first dose?
