Has anyone had to go to a psychologist due to their chronic pain? If so, do they specialize in Chronic pain?

Thank you for bringing this topic up. I have been referred to a psychologist and it's because I asked my primary doctor. They don't specialize, but I was told they often deal with it. If you find that there is a speciality, please let us know so I can do further research. It engulfs your life because your pain is 24/7. I know I am no longer the person I used to be. ❤️

I was referred to a psychologist that specializes in working with patients dealing with chronic pain. You can find them connected with pain management centers. It is helpful to have someone experienced with pain management and how chronic pain impacts mental health (anxiety/depression, etc.).
I’m seeing a counselor for neurofeedback. I’m 3 sessions in with no improvement but was told it would take up to 10. My pain is due to removal of an acoustic neuroma tumor in my brain.
I’ll try to remember to update after my 10 sessions are over.
I’ve also been looking at the Curable app but haven’t purchased it yet.
So, how has your experience with the psychologist gone? I'm sure many here would be interested. Thanks.
I’m being sent to a psychiatrist befor I can receive a spinal cord stimulator. I don’t know why unless required by insurance!
I dont go until next week, but I will post after my visit!
My chronic pain has has definitely impacted my life. I was an extremely active person a year ago! I first broke my back and had a kyphoplasty! I never recovered from the procedure! Then my orthopedic dr recommended surgery on my back this past September and I have been in pain since the surgery! Going to Nashville to see a dr that only specializes in spinal cord stimulators!
It is required by insurance. I hope it helps you.
