Hi jbnewby1313 - I am not sure of your situation - if you want to share your details in your profile, it can help those of us here to help answer your treatment and test questions. My husband sees Dr. Kwon and Dr. Heath now - we live 8 hrs away, so have a local GU Oncologist who oversees the medical systemic treatments. Dr. Kwon recommended a stronger chemo and treatment plan than our local Onc was comfortable with, so we ended up adjusting it a bit. Once we had Dr Heath on board, our local Onc was much more comfortable with the recommendations. We never saw Dr Quevedo, although he was assigned for our first visit. We had to have an unexpected procedure that required us to stay another 4 days, so we put off seeing an oncology at that visit knowing we would be treated ultimately by our local Onc. We have a close friend who sees him (Quevado) and has had good experiences. As other have said, you get a team at Mayo, and they all see your data immediately. It’s fantastic to get care there. We are from Michigan and had heard of Dr Heath’s excellent work here and hoped to see her as my hubs case is a bit rare. We were fortunate to get in with her at Mayo on our 2nd visit and will see her in 2 weeks. My hub finished chemo 3 weeks ago so we will see what the impact has been. We will see Dr Kwon’s team again too. Good luck to you!

Glad the team metaphor was well placed. This will be a different coaching experience, but be rest assured that you’re the head coach who gets to make the final play decisions after input from all the assistant coaches and players. You call the shots!
