NanoKnife treatment & Medicare
First, I appreciate this discussion board and the ability to discuss experiences.
Does anyone know if Medicare covers the NanoKnife treatment?
Does anyone have experience with private insurance companies covering this treatment? If so, what insurance company was it
Thanks in advance for your comments

I'm in Canada with PC 3+4. Where (specifically which clinics) in Canada did they have the NanoKnife. I am looking for someone who can do this in Canada also. Please advise.
Thx
@kikitol Dr. Robert Nam from Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto . He and Dr. Nathan Perlis at Princess Margaret Hospital performs the most . Dr. Nam is associated with North Toronto Cancer Associates where he performs the NanoKnife . VERY SUCCESSFULLY .
Also try Dr. Luke Fazio at The Clinic at Beverely Hills , Toronto , where he performs the NanoKnife procedure . He is Head of Urology at The Humber River Hospital in Toronto .
It is not covered by O.H.I.P. -- It costs around $ 25, 000 Can
Tulsa Pro is performed at Sunnybrook by Dr. Laurence Klotz , who was on the original research team when Tulsa Pro was invented at Sunnybrook under Dr. Chopra. It costs around the dame price HOWEVER . There is a Tulsa Pro Trial at Sunnybrook at present . I believe the trial is still open for candidates. If you are accepted-- the procedure is free .
Good Luck .
@kikito1 A followup ;
Dr Nathan Perlis at Princess Margaret in Toronto is currently conducting a NanoKnife Trial .
@kikito1, how are you doing? What province are you in?
I appreciate your post. I recently met with Dr. Julio Pow-Sang at Moffitt in Tampa to discuss options for treating my prostate cancer diagnosis (3+4). He was the first health care professional to even mention IRE as a possible treatment option. Others were unfamiliar with it and advocated for prostatectomy right away. IRE seems like a viable option for me. I plan to schedule it after having a repeat biopspy performed at Moffitt to confirm I am a candidate. It's very reassuring knowing you had a good outcome and that insurance covered it. Thanks so much!
BCBS just denied paying for the Nanoknife treatment of 9mm prostate tumor. Does anyone have any experience in successful appeal with their insurance company? Has anyone gone out of the country ie UK or Germany to have this procedure if insurace will not pay?
Just get PROTON radiation, I had it, prostate cancer Gleason 8 totally destroyed based on PSMA/PET post PROTON radiation. Oncologist was incredible with the planning.
Dr. Jerome Green in Toronto does Nano Knife. He performed it on my brother in law. Unfortunately, my husband was too later for it because the lesions had gone into several of the lymph nodes. However, we did speak with Dr. Green often and I loved him. He was so knowledgeable, humourous, I trusted him completely. If you need his email address, I can get it for you.
It is not cheap $23,000 CAD
Dr. Jerome Green received his medical degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He completed his residency in urology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Jerome Green finished his fellowship in sexual medicine and reconstructive urology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, University of Toronto. Dr. Jerome Green is the Chief of Urology at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket. He is a lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He has been practicing urology at The Urology Wellness Centre since 2005. The hospital provides compassionate, respectful, and expert care. They specialize in treating erectile dysfunction using low-intensity shock wave therapy with the ED1000.” He has been performing Nano Knife for several years. We checked with some other urologists and some had just started doing it. I really trust Dr. Green

I'm in the exact same boat trying to get second biopsy scheduled. Did the second biopsy result in you being approved for IRE? Did you have it yet? Outcome if any?
