Fisher Wallace/Alpha Stim

There were some really interesting comments here, but I suggest that this stream be redone, as I have no clue as to if the things being referred to are for the Alpha-Stim, or the Fisher Wallace device. I know that Alpha-Stim supposedly has patented their square wave signal. And they differentiate themselves in their literature, with some apparent basis, as they seem to have more studies involving their device(s) than Fisher Wallace.

I ended up here, because I own an Alpha-Stim (M model), and I got the M model as it was only moderately more expensive than the plain Alpha-Stim, and with all of the things coming out about NSAIDs, I thought that having an alternative means of pain relief could be a good idea. I currently have hip replacement surgery scheduled, and was wondering about the utility of the AlphaStim M in that context.

Did you know that you can start a discussion?
I would suggest that you go to the Joint Replacements group:
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/joint-replacements/
And start one asking about using your specific stimulator after a hip replacement. Perhaps someone in that group has tried it and will respond to you.

And be sure to talk to your surgeon about when it might be safe to do this.

Just FYI, after my latest (shoulder) surgery, the recovery protocol was very specific. Use ice, anti-inflammatories, Tylenol and prescribed pain medications for the first 2 months. No heat, massage, stimulators, vibration devices, acupuncture or myofascial release near the surgical site with physician approval.

The doc is a highly regarded expert with a high success rate, so I didn't question the advice.
