There are different Vit Ds. Sounds like you need a prescription for Ergocalciferol or Calcitriol.
OTC Vit D did not work for me. My endo then ordered the ergocalcifierol which also didn't work and then put me on calcitriol and that elevated my Vit D plasma levels. I had been on calcitriol 0.25 mcg 4 days a week and 0.5mcg 3 days a week calcitriol. I stopped everything when I went on Tymlos. My Vit d level is now 15 which is low and I expect that I will be put back on calcitriol this week.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s really helpful to hear how your doctor approached your vitamin D treatment, especially with the different forms. I hope your levels improve now that you’re restarting calcitriol. Wishing you the best with your treatment and overall health.
