i’m 76 with lobular stage 1b, double mass, radiation, oncotype score 25. no chemo, anesterozole for only 3 years dr took me off because of anxiety, wanted to continue she said no i might have resistance. it’s 6 years, at 5 years had scans and she said ned. i’m on anti anxiety meds and zoloft. i want to know how long the anestrozole will continue to work after the 3 years i took it. could it keep working after the 3 years. i thought in early years it was taken for 3 years. why did they change it, and could the anesterzole get rid of any remains cancer. thanks

I believe the medication is out of your system within a few days about 10. Also the medication doesn't kill cancer cells directly, but it can stop or slow the growth of some breast cancer cells. So maybe you have none in your body, and maybe it won't come back. Just take one day at a time. That's what I do. My story is exactly as yours except that I only had a lumpectpmy and I still do take the meds, and I am only 44 years old. I live my life to the fullest. Worrying is not worth it.
